May 10 – Have you ever questioned or wondered if faith and evolution can co-exist? This is the topic of a sermon given by Laurie DeMott at the Alfred Union University Church. We will read her sermon and discuss the ideas presented. This fellowship will be led by Sally Hopkins on this Mother’s Day Sunday!
May 24 — Homer Wilkens joins us to share his new talk; “We Are All Travelers” “Early in my nationwide travels on behalf of lay UU services, I found in my motel room a printed card entitled “Greeting to Guests”. I was impressed by the thoughtful message and made a copy of it on my clip-board. In subsequent years, after making a slight change in the wording, I have used it several times as “Closing Words” for services. In this sermon I will state my modified version of the “Greeting” and then discuss the various parts of it as aspects of a UU way of life, and of a kind of send-off to someone embarking on a new life path. This discussion will include ideas on how the message of the “Greeting” can provide a focus for our lives.
June 14— Crossing Over Together Community – Always a Pilgrim –Walking the Christian Zen Path with Anthony Lipnicki – learn about insights into a journey relevant to living in our own bewildering world of violent change and confusion and how to respond to the questions we have about compassion and mindfulness as they relate to living our daily lives.
June 28— The Flower Communion has become an annual HAUUS event. It began in Prague Czechoslovakia before World War II. We will celebrate by talking with each other about what our UU Fellowship means to each of us. Please bring flowers to share.
